Vincent Smarkusz

Undiscovered American Genius in Modern Art

Vincent Smarkusz as "The Kierkegaardian Man"

“He [Kierkegaard] says [of himself], ‘he goes fishing for monsters, in the thousand depths of his own soul, upon which he sails and which some times overwhelms his tiny boat, but now and then he succeeds in harpooning a sea-monster’”
Soren Kierkeegaard believed that religion had become too rational and mechanical. He believed that a relationship with God should be an intensely personal and a highly emotional experience, like a love affair. Taking the existence of God on faith makes God a living truth for a person, thus Kierkegaard contended that truth is subjectivity.
Kierkegaard essentially lives the absurd, fearlessly diving into all sorts of contradictions.
