Vincent Smarkusz

Undiscovered American Genius in Modern Art

1965 to '74 - "Aura View" portraits of abstract color use and form

Expressionist figures viewed through abstract Color field auras of sensuality, emotion, and spirit.

Smarkusz painted what we call "Aura View" portraits, from the mid-1960s until the time of his death in 1974.  They are strange curious renditions of individuals and pairs, engaged in sensual activities or poses, presented as abstracted human figurations, immersed within Color field auras of fantasy, mysticism, and emotion.
