Vincent Smarkusz

Undiscovered American Genius in Modern Art

1950s - "Fusionism" merges Abstract and Figurative into Surreal

Fusions of human, animal, and mythical forms - Blending sensual moods with mystical themes.

During the 1950's Smarkusz developed an abstract-surreal style of figurative art we refer to as "Fusionism".
Experimentation with Surrealist Automatism and Dreamwork techniques aided the artist in the production of fascinatingly surreal and abstract imagery of animals and humans as mythomorphic beings.
