A behind the scenes look at how the artist composed some of his Frolic paintings

In this gallery we take a look "behind the scenes" as it were, to see that the artist often photographed and sketched live figures to compose many of his genre scenes.  Although he had been drawing people all of his life, and was completely familiar with the human form, Vincent still enjoyed taking pictures of his fellow human beings and their pets frolicking on the beach and in the park.  He studied them for hours as figurative expressions, while composing his many park and seaside scenes.
